Saddleworth Singers with guests Rachael Gibbon (clarinet) and David Butterworth (piano) will perform folk songs, favourites, jazz and Jenkins. Founded in 1987 by Mary Bradshaw, Saddleworth Singers has a long standing and faithful membership of 60 ladies of all ages and musical abilities. Musical Director, Hilary Henderson, hopes to give singers the chance to enjoy themselves whilst developing and achieving high standards.
Rachael Gibbon who was brought up in Saddleworth graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with the highest first class degree in her year. Rachael has performed with many orchestras and also plays in the Elmet Quintet.
David Butterworth trained at the Royal Northern College of Music and is an experienced choral accompanist who has played at the Royal Festival Hall, the Royal Albert Hall and toured Belgium, Germany and Gibraltar. The Choir's Festival Programme has something for everyone including evocative folk songs, the classic 'Misty', 'Summertime', 'Adiemus' from Songs of Sanctuary and a dramatic version of 'Skyfall'.
