An exhibition featuring the works of John McCombs R.O.I., R.B.A., F.R.S.A., President M.A.F.A. John McCombs is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and an award winning artist whose paintings of Delph and the surrounding landscape as well as portrayals of the social and working life of Saddleworth have earned him a national reputation.
He was born in Manchester and trained at St Martin's College of Art in London before moving back up north to establish his studio and gallery in Delph.
Since being elected a member of both the Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in the 1980s he has established a London base by exhibiting twice a year with these prestigious societies. John has just completed a six year term as President of Manchester Academy of Fine Art where he has led the way in enhancing its reputation with exhibitions in the city centre and across the region.
His paintings are in private collections worldwide, and in the public collections of Manchester Art Gallery, Gallery Oldham and Saddleworth Museum.
