The New London Opera Players present a luxurious quickstep through the centuries. An evening of celebrated opera arias, ensembles and interludes that have passed through Vienna, with music by Beethoven, Rossini, Donizetti, Léhar, Gluck, Mozart, Romberg, Kalman and, of course, The Strauss Family.
The Parry Ensemble, conducted by Andrew Charity, will lead the singers in a selection of popular arias and ensembles, with a guest appearance from Marilyn Hill Smith, star of the world operatic stage and BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night is Music Night. This event will be semi-staged.
Founded in 2011, The New London Opera Players strives to continue the work of the original London Opera Players, founded and guided for over fifty years by Elisabeth Parry until 2006. Many of those involved sang for Elisabeth over the years, and they continue to strive to employ the best artists to deliver a range of productions to any type of audience. The company has a number of productions in repertoire, ranging from fully staged and costumed performances to smaller gala performances.
They also have a long history of involving young people in the world of opera - not only involving them in performances of great operas such as Carmen, Hansel and Gretel, The Magic Flute, and Amahl and the Night Visitors, but also commissioning works for children from great communicator composers like Antony Hopkins. Led by a team of music educators trained in Performance and Communication Skills and with a panel of advisors that includes teachers and Ofsted music inspectors, The New London Opera Players is also a registered charity, affiliated to Making Music, the UK's number one organisation for voluntary music.More about the artist »
